Summary on Grant Application Form |
1. To solve problems in five areas of materials science, including metallurgy, semiconductor materials, catalysis and oxides. All the problems require the novel application of micro- analysis at sub-nanometre resolution and can best be tackled using a FEGSTEM instrument. 2. To establish and understand the processes which give rise to beam damage and limit the analysis of materials using fine probes and high beam currents.
