Summary on Grant Application Form
The main axis of our research is on techniques, algorithms and underlying theory for the solution of large-scale linear and nonlinear systems. This includes direct and preconditioned iterative methods for solving large sparse linear systems on both serial and parallel computers, Groebner basis methods for nonlinear systems of equations, and exact penalty and interior-point approaches to general and linearly constrained optimization problems. We are also in the forefront of mathematical software development.
