Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of this proposal is to establish a network which would link food manufacturers, machine provider and systems integrators who have a strategic view of the challenges in automated food assembly (and integrating such producedures within modern e-commerce processes) and academic researchers who can make a significant contribution to expanding the research and development base of the industryThe technology domain includes automation, robotics, sensors, control, IT techniques for control and traceabiity, hygenic design and processes, biological aspects, food science and environmental issues. By its nature the manipulation of natural food products requires an interdisciplinary approach that bridges engineering and the life sciences and the formulation of multidisciplinary teams to address key issues. The network will foster the establishment of such interdisciplinary teams and provide access to a growing application domain. associated activities will stimulate research output in terms of published output and the formulation of cooperative research proposals.
