Summary on Grant Application Form
The research in this project will lead to the following developments in science and technology1. An understanding of the electrical properties of HTS in low frequency rf fields and the influence of dc fields2. Optimisation of the modelling of YBa2Cu3Ox circuits using e.g. HFSS/Vector Fields code for low frequency applications.3. Development of low frequency MR electronics4. Development of a compact cooling system suitable for MR applications.5. Development of very low loss capacitors.6. Research into non-metallic thermal link to distance the cooling engine from the receive coil. The partner grouping is very well suited to tackle these tasks within the two years. The research seeks to solve some fundamental issues such as the low frequency behaviour, but also addresses particular process issues. There is a good spread of industry, University and healthcare provider participation.
