For many purposes, it is important to understand how the properties of geometric objects are related to those of their slices. (An obvious example, that is peripherally connected with this research, is in medical scanning). More generally, it is extremely useful to know how mass is distibuted in high-dimensional bodies, such as those appearing in linear programming problems.One way to study these problems is to examine points selected at random from such an object, and sums of such ponts. It can be shown that if, as the number of selected points increases, such random sums rapidly distribute themselves into an equilibrium state, then it is possible to recover a lot of geometric information. The aim of this research is to find conditions, as inclusive as possible, under which the equilibrium is achieved rapidly.
