Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal is centred around the Oxford University MSc in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing. This is an established and successful course which trains graduates with a strong mathematical background to develop and apply their skills to the solution of practical problems, especially those arising in industry and commerce. The MSc has evolved as techniques and applications have changed over 20 years and this Training Package will continue support by providing studentships and developing new interdisciplinary courses. The Training Package contains the following elements:* student support for a core of 12 students pa (to be allocated flexibly)* course development of interdisciplinary areas such as: (i) mathematical finance(ii) mathematical physiology (iii) numerical optimisation and applications (iv) integrated modelling projects* Funds to allow use of modules in the IGDS supported Diploma in Mathematical Finance.* Funds to support training activities.
