Summary on Grant Application Form
The overheads analysis methodology is an iterative technique for the development of efficient implementations of parallel applications; it is based on a repeating cycle of measurement, analysis, reduction of a hierarchical set of overheads in the given application. An overhead profiler to support the methodology is being developed within the EPSRC project GR/M70155. The proposed interaction with Professor Haglin will contribute to the development of this methodology in the following ways:1. Evaluation of the methodology on some Combinatorial Optimisation problems.2. Improvements to the methodology by the incorporation of data mining-based knowledge extraction from the large volumes of data that are obtained by the overhead profiler.
