Summary on Grant Application Form
The main of the proposed research is to investigate the role of component technology together with advanced middleware platforms to support the construction of dynamically adaptable distributed co-operative visualisation software. In addition, we intend to investigate the potential of the concept of open bindings, within this framework, to support different styles of adaptation in a highly heterogeneous environment. The work builds strongly on previous research on the Adapt (EPSRC funded at Lancaster) and MANICORAL (EU funded at RAL) project but also adds considerable extra value in terms of evaluating modern component-based and investigating in depth the area of heterogeneity and management.
