Summary on Grant Application Form
A radical bromination reaction, leading to a new class of allylic of allylic bromide with notable potential in stereoselective synthesis, has been discovered. The aim of the proposed research is to define the scope of the reaction and to evaluate the behaviour of the products in projected C-C and C-heteroatom bond-forming reactions. Besides contributing to an understanding of ambident reactivity of 1-oxyallylic radicals, anions and cations, the research should provide access to stereopure units with diverse applications in synthesis.
