Summary on Grant Application Form
Proteins are linear chains of amino acids. Under appropriate solvent conditions each natural protein will fold into precisely one specific stable three-dimensional structure, which determines its biological function. The main objective of the proposed research is to construct a theory with which this specific three-dimensional structure can be predicted, given knowledge of a protein's microscopic sequence of amino-acids, using non-equilibrium statistical mechanical tools originally developed in the disordered systems community.
