Summary on Grant Application Form
The visiting fellow and the investigators will work together in the module structure of free Lie algebras in positive characteristic with the aim of obtaining decomposition theorems for the homogeneous components as modules for finite groups of graded algebra automorphisms. The focus will be on groups whose modular representation theory is well understood. Initially, we plan to concentrate on two important cases. Firstly, the free Lie algebra of rank 2 over a field of p elements as a module for the full group of graded automorphism. Here the aim is to extend the existing results for p= 2,3 to p= 5 and beyond. Secondly, the free Lie algebra rank of p with respect to the natural action of the symmetric group Sp. Parallel to our main objective 1, applications to the much more delicate module structure of the free Lie rings will be pursued whenever possible.
