Panel History:
Summary on Grant Application Form
Recent developments in:(a) Source strength and instrumentation at x-ray and neutron central facilities;(b) Sophistication of experimental techniques being developed and exploited by liquid matter researchers; and(c) Increased computational power for both first principles and atomistic modelling,Are opening up major new opportunities for the understanding of complex liquid systems. Taking full advantage of all these opportunities requires enhanced collaboration between experimentalists, theoreticians, and computational modellers to develop and implement optimal strategies for tackling a range of liquid matter related problems that are of increasing importance both industrially and academically. This will be achieved through mechanisms including focussed discussion meetings, targeted workshops, and regular working meetings between subgroups of network members. A major outcome will be the development of a coherent, interactive group of leading researchers that will be an effective force for interaction both with industry and with academic researchers in related areas in the UK which, by its very nature, is highly interdisciplinary.
