Summary on Grant Application Form
Coupled or concerted energy sources are being used increasingly for enhancing or replacing catalysts in reactions not normally effected without such catalysts. In principle it should be possible to produce a combination of energy conditions that would give a sluggish reaction the type of rate enhancement normally provided by a chemical catalyst. To achieve the level of sophistication characteristic of catalysis an equally subtle combination of energy interactions is required. It is our contention that multihyphenated energy sources provide the necessary conditions and with a suitable range of individual energy tuning may give sufficient control over reaction path and reaction rate.
