Summary on Grant Application Form
Energy consumption patterns in transport will be established as it relates to settlement size (population) for 1992/94 National Travel Survey data. Detailed analysis will be carried out in Gloucestershire where a range of possibilties for the location of new housing are under discussion. This project will establish critical population thresholds for the provision of public and private services and facilities, Detailed audit of available facilities and their location will be carried out to establish scale, nature and distribution of facilities, together with their trends, Interviews will be carried out with the major providers of services and facilities (public and private) to determine their criteria for provision of new facilities and existing facilities, Estimates will be made of the critical population threshoilds for provision, together with the changes on costs arising as a consequence of closure, relocation or provision of a new facility. Spatial and morphological analysis will be carried out to determine where the most appropriate location for a range of facilities should be to minimise distance and maximise accessibility.
