Summary on Grant Application Form
A Raman microscope will be installed, and used as delivered on collaborators programme [including work on polymers]. It will be modified to work with a diamond-anvil cell high-pressure system, and used to investigate semiconductor elastic properties, band-structure and phase transitions particularly in strained-layer heterostructures. Finally, a novel pre-filler will be developed to provide the instrument with tunable low wavenumber operation to benefit both collaborators programmes and semiconductor work.
