Summary on Grant Application Form
The project addresses the development of a test data suite for use in the development and evaluation of electronic design and manufacturing support systems. A very generalised way of capturing the characteristics that are important in design data in this domain is used. This is called information modelling and is a technique that is of increasing relevance in the electronic and mechanical design domains. The resultant information models are then used in a novel way to define the environment in which test data will be stored, and the browsing and access support to be provided. In order that this test data environment is relevant to both academic and industry users, the test data held in the repository will be representable using standard formats/languages (eg EDIT, VHDL as well as using some of the most widely available proprietary forms. It is intended that one of the techniques used to populate the test data environment will involve a translator developed using a model-driven approach.
