|
This development will maintain Vulcan's current lead as a provider of ultrashort high power pulses to target. The enhancement will increase the current performance of Vulcan to the PW level. Phase I would be brought on line progressively to users with completion in 18-24 months. This upgrade gives an order of magnitude increase in power to target. Phase II would provide PW powers to one target area and an increase to 4 kJ in long pulse mode 2 years after the completion of Phase I. Details of the programme are given in the case for support.
