This proposal is a collaboration between Keele University, UMIST and the University of Nottingham to study nickel cermet anodes in solid oxide fuel cells running on natural gas. The research involves the study of anodes by catalytic methods including temperature programmed reduction, thermal desorption spectroscopy, temperature programmed oxidation etc. Then the anodes will be used in a tubular electrochemical reactor at Keele to observe the currentl/voltage/reaction product performance over a range of fuel cell operating conditions. The behaviour of this reactor will then be modelled mathematically using numerical methods.
