Summary on Grant Application Form
The aim of the project is an understanding of the indecomposable pure-injective modules over a finite-dimensional algebra and of how these related to (families of) finite-dimensional modules, with the broader aim of elucidating the nature of the division between tame and wild representation groups. The investigation should yield general results that apply to algebras of domestic representation type as well as general results applying to algebras of wild representation type. For tame non-domestic algebras one would expect classification results for particular algebras and for classes of algebras which are similar (in the sense that they have analogous classifications for their finite-dimensional modules).Since the new techniques from the model theory of modules were developed for arbitrary rings, one would also expect to obtain results that apply outside the context of finite-dimensional (or artin) algebras.
