1. Synthesis, isolation, characterisation of a range of novel C2 and carbohydrate derived chiral dioxiranes from appropriate chiral ketones.2. Asymmetric oxidations with these reagents of prochiral acyclic, cyclic, and heterosubstituted prochiral alkenes or sulphide functionalities, and development of chiral dioxirane auxiliaries.3. Mechanistic investigation of stereochemistry of dioxirane oxygen atom transfer to heteroatoms (eg P) , using stereochemically unambiguous substrates.
