Summary on Grant Application Form
1. To solve problems in five areas of materials science, including metallurgy, semiconductor materials, catalysis and oxides. All the problems require the novel application of micro-analysis at sub-nanometre resolution and can best be tackled using a FEGSTEM instrument. 2. To establish and understand the processes which give rise to beam damage and limit the analysis of materials using fine probes and high beam currents.
