Summary on Grant Application Form |
In this proposal Fourier Transform Photoacoustic Spectrometry (FTIR-PAS) will be used to determine, with depth profiling, infra-red spectra of multi-layer films and chemical diffusion rates through them. Step scanning and dynamic scanning measurements will be evaluated and compared to determine the relative merits of each of the modes. The work will be complementary to beam deflection studies leading to the possibility of deriving a complete description of diffusion through such multilayer structures into a contacting medium. Multilayer nitro-glycerine drug-delivery patches will be used to test the developed methods.
