Summary on Grant Application Form
This is a proposal for investment in equipment to benefit researchers in at least 15 UCL centres and departments across four faculties. It will support UCL's strategic goals of realising the impact of excellent cross-disciplinary research and providing its researchers with cutting-edge equipment to enable them to compete with the world's best. Across the portfolio of equipment requested the items fulfil the "underpinning multi-user equipment", "invest to save", "capital investment with substantial and demonstrable benefit to Early Career Researchers" and "capital investment with substantial and demonstrable, but not exclusive, benefit to doctoral training activities".

Governance of the Core Equipment funding is provided by grant holder Professor Geraint Rees, UCL Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement), and Deans of the three Faculties of Built Environment, Engineering Sciences, and Mathematical & Physical Sciences.

The academic Leads for each requested item will be responsible for regular reporting to the Office of the Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement) on progress against objectives. The requested UCL equipment items are: (A) Metal Additive Manufacturing at UCL EAST, (B) X-Tek Micro Computed Tomography System Upgrade and (C) Highly Versatile Next Generation Time-Gated Raman Spectrometer.
