Summary on Grant Application Form |
The measurement of sheet properties is an essential pre-requisite for the control of industrial two-dimensional processes such a polymer film extrusion, paper making and metal rolling. This project will use active and inferential sensing methods to infer properties of the sheet from measurements which are a non-linear function of the property of interest and other unknown properties of the sheet. The technique will be initially applied to the measurement of the thickness of plastic film.
