Summary on Grant Application Form
From their everyday experience children are aware of the wonders of chemistry, but they do not associate this excitement Nith chemistry because their perception of chemistry is of smoke stacks, bearded men in white coats, and Victorian laboratories. It is essential to change this perception at an early age if we are to correct the drift away from pure science in later years. The aim of this proposal is to stimulate the interest of children in the 10 to 12-year-old age group by producing exciting demonstration material and maintaining that interest using classroom experiments and investigative science projects that can be performed in primary schools by the children under the guidance of teachers with limited formal scientific training.
