Summary on Grant Application Form
Further desirable elements of the vision for the Centre are: to identify and catalyse new research activities; to help train a new generation of researchers in interdisciplinary energy research; and to provide a focal point for the UK's participation in international research efforts. To realise this vision, it will be necessary to draw in:natural scientists and engineers engaged in the basic and strategic research which will underpin tomorrow's energy technologies and infrastructures;scientists and engineers engaged in taking technologies beyond the laboratory towards commercialisation through knowledge transfer;social scientists and economists who can help to understand the way that social conntext and technologies interact and the role of policy frameworks in steering technological developments;researchers from the natural and social sciences who can explore the implications of alternative energy developments in terms of environmental sustainability, security of supply, affordability and competitiveness.
