Summary on Grant Application Form
Complex amoebas are beautiful geometrical objects associated to polynomial ideals; they have profound connections to many areas of mathematics including complex analysis in many variables and algebraic geometry. Recently, p-adic and adelic amoebas have arisen naturally in studying geometrical and sub-dynamical properties of dynamical systems. The project is to systematically study p-adic amoebas, develop our understanding of their geometry and topology, our ability to 'draw' them, and to explore their connection with subdynamics and properties of ultrametric functions in several variables.
