Summary on Grant Application Form |
By applying low to moderate pressure (ambient - 150 bar) and temperature (upto 400 degrees) it is possible to prepare novel phases of V5+ and V4+ phosphate materials. This approach to synthesis is to be extended to other transition metal containing phosphate systems to preparre novel phases from amorphous precursor species which are to be tested as oxidation catalysts using hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidants. The phosphate systems to be investigated will include Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ce, W, Zr and combined Zr/W phosphate materials. This study will also include an investigation into novel ZrSiO4 materials (based on the mineral zircon) with a view to preparing and characterising further novel selective oxidation catalysts.
