Summary on Grant Application Form
The funding is requested t o support a visit of Prof. A.I. Smimov to the Department of Physics, University of Warwick.Professor Smirnov is a leading scientist at P.L. Kapitsa Institute for Physical Problems of Russian Academy of Science. We would like to invite Prof. Smimov to visit the Superconductivity & Magnetism Group at the Department of Physics, University of Warwick . The duration of the visit is 6 months. We foresee three major aspects of Prof. Smirnov's visit into the Department:- he will use a research equipment available at the Department to extend his studies of frustrated and low dimensional magnetic systems. The research programme is centred around the magnetisation and heat capacity measurements that will be made using our VSM and SQUID magnetometers as well as a PPMS.- he will be a source for valuable advice on the final stages of setting up our new ESR (Electron Spin Resonance) laboratory at Warwick;- he will attempt to consolidate further the research connections between the Kapitsa Institute and University of Warwick by giving a series of seminars, by writing joint publications and by preparing future research proposals.
