This feasibility study aims to contribute to a very popular research field, namely modelling of cellular behaviour and activity, by means of a completely novel and adventurous approach. The challenge of the work proposed here concerns with the idea that the basic dynamic laws regulating the behaviour of a collection of particles (or molecules) could be adapted and then applied to a population of cells. It is proposed to exploit the analogy, and possibly to establish the corresponding dynamic laws which subsequently could be used to analyse the propagation of concentration waves in cellular systems. Concentration waves are believed to be linked to inter- and intra-cellular signalling propagation; if our hypothesis is correct, the body of information obtained will ultimately help in unravelling the mysterious world of communication between cells. This would furnish clarification on the way cell interact and are organised and therefore will pave the way to understand self-organised systems. Such information will make it possible to gain knowledge into the areas of self-assembly materials and adhesion. Furthermore, by elucidation the metabolic networks, we will gain knowledge into the dynamics regulating intra- and inter-cellular behaviour.
