Summary on Grant Application Form
Andrew Wiles' proof of fermat's last theorem opened up many exciting areas of research in number theory. His proof made use of dpecial cases of a conjecture of serre & I propose to work on generalisations of this conjecture. His work also enabled Richard Taylor & others to prove new cases of a famous conjecture of Artin & I intend to use generalisations of some of these methods to prove further cases.
