|
The aim of the Network is to promote the use of sustainable practices within the building industry, specifically in the area of masonry construction. The Network will include a wide range of members. Representatives will be included from academia, manufacturers of building materials and users of building materials. In addition environmental scientists will advise on the environmental impact of manufacturing methods, materials and building practices. The primary method of communication between Network members will be through the Network website, e-mail and regular newsletters. Sub-committees set up between groups of members within the network will be an additional method of communication. On a larger scale, and more formal basis, regular forums or workshops will be arranged for all network subcommittees to meet on an annual or biannual basis. An annual conference will allow the presentation of lectures on all relevant topics to be presented formally. A distinguished speaker will be invited to give a keynote speech. Conferences, forums and workshops will be open to non-network members. The management committee, representing various parties of interest, will be responsible for Network activities. The day to day running of the Network will be overseen by a part time Network Coordinator.
