Summary on Grant Application Form
An art exhibition will be produced, centred on the theme of sound in a man-made environment. Its aim is to promote public awareness of the way in which technological advance has led to increased sound levels in the environment and the way in which this affects our every-day lives. The exhibition will consist of original paintings and interactive soundscapes and will incorporate poster boards explaining the basic scientific concepts of sound waves, their propagation and measurement. There will also be video interviews with scientists and engineers working in acoustics and people whose lives are affected by high sound levels. The exhibition will be shown in major centres in Scotland and the north of England and will be supported by workshops in primary schools.
