|
The classical commutant lifting theorem has provided a general framework for solving a variety of interpolation and moment problems arising in mathematics and engineering. In turn such problems have led to the consideration of variations of the commutant lifting problem. These include looking at the problem in the context of indefinite metric spaces (Krein spaces), studying time varing versions or versions with additional constraints (eg, asking for minimal norm solutions), trying to find approximate solutions for problems where it is known that exact solutions may not exist, or by considering variations on the traditional commutation relation (for example, by considering pairs of commuting operators which are intertwined by a third operator). This project aims to provide solutions to a number of such problems, providing methods which are computationally feasible when possible. An additional goal is to consider applications to interpolation and moment problems.
