Summary on Grant Application Form
A common problem of service-oriented architectures is that the description of service interfaces is generally poor. As part of the myGrid project, we are investigating a service directory capable of containing semantic descriptions of services, including their functionality, their semantic inputs and their semantic outputs. In myGrid, we have focused only the on pure Web Services. The purpose of my visit at Argonne National Laboratory is to work with Ian Foster and his team on semantic discovery of Grid services.Policies are a means to dynamically regulate the behaviour of system components without changing code and without requiring the consent or cooperation of the components being governed. Policies are becoming widely considered as a suitable means to specify the behaviour of Grid services. The purpose of my visit to West Florida University is to investigate with Jeff Bradshaw and Niranjan Suri policy languages for the specification of Grid services security, management and behaviour, and apply them in particular to the myGrid services, for which we have elicited specific requirements.
