Summary on Grant Application Form
We expect to derive three-dimensional flows of spanwise or streamwise vortex structure for internally heated shear flows, examine their stability and identify their dependence on the angle of inclination of the channel flow, by using software that was recently developed, as described briefly in case of support. In order to do this we will first identify the secondary flow that bifurcates from the linear stability curve for various values of the angle of inclination and subsequently examine the linear stability of this secondary flow against three-dimensional disturbances of the general type. As a by product of our analysis the competition of the LR and TW type disturbances for a specific value of the angle of inclination will also be examined. The flows will be examined under constant pressure gradient or constant flux conditions.
