Summary on Grant Application Form |
This programme proposes to design, and develop optically- and electrically-driven GaInNAs vertical-cavity semiconductor optical amplifiers (VCSOAs) and investigate their continuous-wave and dynamics performance for operation at 1.3um. Besides, the project aims also at demonstrating steps toward integration and tunability to broaden the possible uses of these components. Steam oxidation, selective etching, quantum-well intermixing and fibrebased systems are the identified techniques to obtain new functionality among which figure multi-wavelength arrays of VCSOAs and tunable vertical extended cavity amplifiers and lasers.
