Summary on Grant Application Form
We propose to use time-resolved, in-situ X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques in order to study the kinetics and mechanism of a wide range of solid state syntheses using our previously developed chemical reaction cells. The research programme will also involve the design, construction and commissioning of a new chemical reaction cell so that reactions in supercritical water can be investigated. We also hope to develop another reaction cell that will enable us to study sub-critical hydrothermal reactions using combined time-resolved, in-situ diffraction and spectroscopic measurements.
