Summary on Grant Application Form
The proposed research will cover a 2 month period during the summer of 2003. This travel grant will finance a visit by the applicant to Prof laboratory at the University of New Brunswick, Canada. This laboratory is an acknowledged leader in materials MRI. The novel technique., by Prof. Balcom will have a relevance to clinical MRI in the future. The applicant is well placed to assist in the migration of these methods, I experience of both fields. In addition to work carried out during the visit, some preparatory design work will be carried out. There are five e the proposed work - all of which are preliminary or investigative in nature. They are: 1. Development of a variable temperature probe for th magnet allowing both fixed and dynamic temperature experiments on thin films over a wide range of temperatures. 2. Development of hart preliminary study of gas flow in a small static flame using SPRITE. 3. To gain experience of using the EPR imaging system. 4. To evaluate related to possible in-vivo application in, for example, skin permeation studies. 5. Evaluation of spiral SPRITE for future clinical application example, bone structure.
