Summary on Grant Application Form
Loughborough University has appointed a Star Professor of Healthcare Engineering (from June 2003), as part of a strategic move to capitalise on its strengths in the engineering disciplines and create a world-class body of expertise in the healthcare sector. Professor David Williams will champion new research in healthcare, and catalyse integration of existing skills and research. This proposal seeks 500K EPSRC funding to extend the existing IMCRC into the healthcare sector, complementing the University's funding of the Chair, and 200K provision of funds from School and IMRC resources. Within 5 years the initiative will deliver an internationally recognised capability in healthcare research, and a portfolio of research with a total income of more than 5M.
