To set up the Reading Environmental e-Science Centre (RESC) with the aim of developing environmental web and grid services in collaboratior the Met Office, the Environment Agency and the commercial environmental sector. The activities of the centre will be focussed around case stu with deliverables being reports on e-Science potential and demonstrator development. The centre will bring together expert partners doing envir research, companies who are exploiting the uses of environmental data or providing data handling facilities for these data, and expertise from o scientists both from Reading and the other core e-Science centres. The centre will help to strengthen the 4 e-science pilot projects already fund NERC and BBSRC at Reading by helping to improve links across projects and helping to standardize the tools being developed, and also by prn an Access grid forum for collaboration.
