Summary on Grant Application Form
Air quality affects everyone's lives: their health, their environment and their well being. Issues relating to air qualityconstantly in the media, yet most ordinary people have only a limited understanding of the significance of airquality, the difference between the various pollutants and the methods used by scientists to monitor air quality and toimprove it. This project will produce learning activities relating to air quality that will draw on the advice ofDEFRA's Air Quality Expert Group and the data available from National Environment Technology Centre(NETCEN) and the expertise of scientists working in the field of air quality monitoring and modelling. The project will link to a major curriculum development programme for GCSE students, which will provide a guaranteed outlet to around 10,000 students in the pilot phase and potentially to hundreds of thousands of students if the pilot is successful.
