Summary on Grant Application Form
This proposal will increase public knowledge and ownership of a key indicator of urban sustainability by signposting the issue of carbon flows and intensity to the public through the use of high impact posters located within buses in Bristol. The posters will illustrate a variety of features of the carbon intensity of a city region using the internationally acknowledged expertise of the Graphic Science at UWE Unit. The posters, as well as presenting challenging and striking imagery, will direct interested individuals to further information sources hosted on a dedicated web site. The web site will be developed to act as a single focussed location for relevant information, advice and links. This site also will direct individuals to further web-based information on the EPSRC-funded Towards a low carbon economy project, the DISTILLATE research programme on sustainability and Bristol City Council sustainable development initiatives.Evaluation of this project will be carried out independently of the project team and include face-to-face interviewing of passengers using a standard prompt sheet, an analysis of the traffic on the dedicated website and feedback from the projects' other stakeholders.
