|
Loughborough University is a member of the core group for organising the submission of an Expression of Interest (Eol) for a Network of Excellence and Integrated project under Framework 6 and for formulating the proposals for these two research activities. A NoE and IP in the area of Rapid Manufacturing currently being formulated and will be submitted into the thematic priority area Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences, knowledge-based multifunctional materials and new production processes and devices and specifically the sub-area of New Production Processes and Devices .The funding that is being sought t will enable the academics listed to attend meetings to set up the Networks of Excellence and Integrated Project. There will also be travel to individual universities and companies to discuss their role in the activities. Meetings will also occur at conferences where it is easier to meet larger group of interested parties. The Network of Excellence is also intended to link to non-EU research and so meetings will occur at the Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium in Texas, as this is the leading academic conference for the subject of Rapid Manufacturing.
