Summary on Grant Application Form |
Double exchange mediated ferromagnets such as manganites are another class of compounds showing interesting spintronic properties due to the coexistence of magnetic and transport properties at the same temperature. Possible technological application relies on high magnetoresistive values at room temperature and very low fields. Search for newer double exchange ferromagnets are therefore envisaged in addition to to the interesting physics behind these mangantes. Strontium ruthenates are one such compounds, when doped with Mn shows transition from Super exchange to double exchange mediated ferromagnetism. Prof. S. S. Manoharan and his co workers have explored novel correlations between Ruthenates and mangantes. This proposal aims to enable Prof. Manoharan to visit Imperial college for six months to work on a range of compounds showing unusual magnetic, transport and magnetoresistive properties. He will visit a number of U.K. labs to discuss his work.
