|
The Signals and Systems Group at Edinburgh has an international reputation for the innovative application of advanced signal processing techniques to a wide range of applications. A platform grant would enable the group to realise its fut plans in the areas of signal processing for communications (SPC), non-linear non-Gaussian signal processing (NNSP) ; multimedia signal processing (MMSP). The group has considerable strength in the first two areas and the grant we facilitate the expansion of these areas and provide an effective means of keeping ahead of international competition. The group has had some activity in MMSP and the grant would enable the growth in this area to a level similar to that in the 1 two. The grant would also provide a large part of the computing resource for the floor in 'a new building which will occupied by the group from March 2003. Further the travel funds will enable the group to collaborate internatiom particularly with respect to growing activities in MMSP.
