Summary on Grant Application Form
Preliminary studies by the proposed visitor at his home Laboratory showed that the simple compound ceria has a k of 24, Tf of -50 ppm with high Q of about 10,000 at 6 GHz which can be doubled or even more by suitable doping. No detailed study was made due to lack of facilities in the proposed visitors Laboratory. It is now proposed to prepare temperature stable high Q Ce02 DR by suitable doping and by solid solution formation with positive Tf material. The proposed visitor showed the existence of several temperature stable compounds in the Ba based system with k in the range 20 to 60 with high Q. The Sr based system has very high K in the range 70 to 200 with very high Tf. It is proposed to study the exact composition, structure, symmetry, microstructure and microwave properties of these compounds. It is also proposed to tune the DR properties by suitable doping and by solid solution formation.
