Summary on Grant Application Form
We have been awarded beam time for two separate magnetic Compton scattering studies and a ferromagnetic diffraction experiment at SPring8 in Japan. AI three experiments are being scheduled to permit a single trip to Japan. In the first study, on Cal -xLaxB6, we shall establish the nature of the spin moment for the first time. In the second study, on Lal-xGdxMn2Ge2, the nature of the 3d-4f interaction will be determined. The diffraction experiment is on Sml-xGdxA12, which is a zero moment ferromagnet. The experiment will provide accurate measurements of the spin and orbital moments at and either side of the compensation point. The grant request is for travel and subsistence to allow 3 people to run the experiments around the clock for a total of -2 weeks.
