The human visual system is differentially sensitive to different visual properties. Sensitivity also depends on the type of response that is being generated. The project will investigate the visual response properties of the saccadic system. Saccadic eye movements are the fast ballistic movements that bring the fovea onto items of interest. We generate many thousands of saccades a day and these saccades are often directed to visual events. Specifically here we will focus on the saccadic systems responses to the spatial frequency of stimuli items.Characterising the visual sensitivity of the saccadic system is a fundamental component of understanding how visual environment should be designed to interface optimally with humans.
