Professor Ryan is a world authority on the Airline Crew Scheduling problem as well as being very knowledgeable about the whole of Applied OR. While in London he will give a series of research seminars on these subjects at LSE, Imperial College and Brunel University. He will also engage in joint research discussions at these institutions. In particular we are interested in improved algorithmic/formulation methods for Crew Scheduling (considered one of the most economically important problems in the airlines). Professor Williams at LSE is very knowledgeable about Integer Programming Modelling. Professor Mitra at Brunel has worked widely in Crew Scheduling and Dr Beasley at Imperial College is working on Aircraft Scheduling (with an EPSRC grant).
